'Plaster' How to turn the puzzel into living zones

KATOOMBA COTTAGE UPDATE - ENJOY ;-)

Plaster board or Gyprock makes all the difference and what a big change it has made to the home.
Unfortunately I was in Bangkok at the time so I missed out on more detailed photos but I'm sure you will get the idea.

Also while I was off shore and as the Plasters were creating rooms, Nathan & Joel fitted out the internal walls with the 'Earthwool'   http://www.knaufinsulation.com.au/products/earthwool%E2%84%A2_batts__rolls/ceiling_and_wall_thermal_batts.aspx   sound and thermal insulation R2 rating. This is not a requirement of the Council or BASIX but for only a few hundred dollars you can make the home a much higher thermal rating and this will be a great benefit through the cold months of the year not to mention the peace & quite between rooms with the extra sound rating.             The bag gives clear instructions on how to calculate the amount that is needed, I roughly worked on 11 bags for the square meters and thinking I may have 1 bage left over. But I did not take into account the space that the frame work takes up so we had 3 bags over. Also, Joel mentioned that they were much nicer to install, the 'Earthwool' did not make him itch at all, NO firbreglass.

The below photos will give you a very clearpicture of the house becoming a home and just how lovely the design is. Now as all builders do, Nathan had prepared the ceiling to make ready for the plaster sheets, spending hours placing all the metal battens securely and straight. However, Kitome sent wall size sheets only, these are a different size to a standard ceiling sheet and as I was away there was nothing he could do but to pull out all his hard work and start all over again adjusting all the metal battens to fit a wall sheet. ;-(

Looking from Bedroom 1 passed the double walk through robe (His & Her's) to the en-suite.

Looking from the en-suite back into the bedroom.

Hard to make out though this is looking into Bedroom 1 robe

Look how straight this wall is, these Plasters have made a wonderful job, I'm very pleased with their work.

Looking from the back doors to the Kitchen and arch way to the bathroom & Bedrooms 2 & 3.

The Kitchen & Breakfast nook.

This is looking into the Bathroom, you will notice that the cornice has not been installed, the reason for this is the tiles will be adhered floor to ceiling so the cornice will be attached later and the cornice is not a standard plan style, it is the 'Symphony' design, you can just make out the curve in the photo below.

It's now full steam ahead......
* I have had a meeting with my tillier and am waiting on his quote.
* All the light fittings are on site for the electrician to arrange in place.
* I have started the water proofing of the bathrooms and other wet areas, next BLOG.
* Waiting on Origin energy to connect the gas line.
* Hunting the best water tank which I think I will go with a bladder system as it can be stored under the house and out of the way. Also it is so much cheaper than a tall free standing unit that will take up all the side passage space.
* The tiles have been delivered to the site.
* The timber flooring, a lovely deep red/brown, has also been delivered to site.
* I found an original ceiling rose that will grace the ceiling of the formal lounge.
* The timber decking 'Forest Red' has arrived and Nathan will be installing it over the next few weeks.
* Fixtures & Fittings I bought some time ago and are ready & waiting to be installed.
* The kitchen has been delivered and is being stored.

Being prepared is the key, lots of research and having the 3D vision of how it will look in the end. This home WILL be lovely (if I do say so myself ;-). )
