We all want the water to just mysteriously come out of the tap when we turn it on, Romans seemed to be able to achieve this great feat all those years ago but the effort involved to create the under house & under ground spaghetti is an art form.
Now for most people looking at photos of pipes and holes in the ground is as exciting as watching paint dry, (that post is to come ;-)) However, like it or not most of your pipes are going to be under ground and very out of site and to find just where they are if in an emergency is a lot of a gamble so the more photos you take as future reference the better off you will be so for this step, get your camera out and start clicking.
This is Greg Osborne of 'Platypus Plumbing' m 0437 893 242. Greg is the loveliest guy I have met in a long time & work!!! He is on site early in the morning and stays till he need a lamp to see and is super passionate about is work. If you are building in the Mountains or anywhere, you just have to call Greg.
The new water tap at the front gate and connection to the mains from the front street.
So I documented as much as I could when I was on site.
The water line cuts under the drive way and directly up to the house.
Good to know where the pipe is when it comes to placing plants and gardening.
A good shot to show the depth of the trench for the water line and the position.
I bought from the local hardware 'Home' thermal covers, these come in a tube that is easy to split and tares in a straight line to wrap around the pipe, I still have to fix it off with some electrical ties.
My new water meter, how exciting, I can now pay for the water we use on site!!
All the under house plumbing Greg had worked on a few weeks ago, you may have seen the interior works from the water proofing photos. Lucky the house is on piers so that it is easy to move around underneath and for future works if needed.
Working on the sewer line and storm water run off. Greg has dug a great trench from the front street right along the side fence to the under of the house to connect all together, what a job ;-(
It's quite hard to make out but this hole is nearly 2 meters deep and forms part of the connection to the main sewer to the street.
And the gas line and meter have now been connected by Origin Energy http://www.originenergy.com.au/?gclid=CI6ty6PR17ACFUKDpAodcjiG3A they only charge $125.00 to connect up to 15 meters of line including the meter, not bad at all as there will be a 900 gas free standing S/S cook top/oven and 2 gas points for heating.
Well I did say plumbing pics are not the most exciting but probably one of the most important photos to have on file.
