Action, Action, Action ;-)

KATOOMBA COTTAGE UPDATE - ENJOY ;-)

You have no idea how good it felt to walk up the driveway & see external wall frames standing proud, oh what joy to see action....................

There really is not too much to talk about so I will fill this post with lots of photos so you can see the beginnings of a new home for yourself.

The photo above is the North/East corner and this pic shows the Breakfast nook off the Kitchen, could also be great as a study/computer zone, Nathans suggestion. There's Tony! The photo below is showing the front Formal Lounge Room

This is the rear of the home looking into the Laundry, unfortunately the frame was built incorrectly re the position of the doors & window, Kitome will be on site as soon as they can to fix it as well as an incorrect stud opening for the Dining room window, pic below, hard to spot but where Nathan is walking is correct and the next window along closer to the Breakfast nook is 1200X900 instead of 1500X900. It will be sorted.

Really the pic above shows you just how big the rear garden Verandah will be, fabulous for entertaining!!! We will see this so much better over the coming weeks when the timber decking is laid.

Nathan braces up the walls, he just loves his nail gun, Rambo!!

Tony, Nathan's father-in-law, has been in the building industry for many years & knows just what he is doing, a very keen eye for detail.

This shot is looking into Bedroom 1 and the front bay window. Nathan tells me that they lay the flooring over the complete joist area to the edges and then trim off as required.

The front Verandah (is a generous 1.8m wide) and Formal Lounge plus the front door of course. You can see there will be lots of storage area under the house, handy!!!

This is a great shot, gives you a clear view of the layers from brick sub floor, LVL's, joists, flooring & then the frames. The Weather Tex Cladding will be placed right down to match up with the top of the brick sub floor which will be rendered to a lovely textured finish & painted the same colour as the Colourbond roofing, 'Woodland Grey'

Above, the front North/East corner Verandah to the Breakfast nook.

The local inspector, where's the cat?

Great size entertaining Verandah of 2.4m wide off the Living room with 2 double French doors so you have a wonderful inside/outside feeling and catch the Summer breezes.

Good view of the Breakfast nook.

Well pending all the rain we are expected, I'd say the boys will have so much more completed to amaze me the next time I am on site and I have to get a move on and start painting the timber 'Weather Tex' Cladding boards before they are installed. I have been told that this is the trick to stop the showing of the joins due to natural expansion & contraction.
I have also had a wonderful time selecting the tiles, taps, fixtures, fittings, and a wonderful super big 900 wide free standing gas/electric oven and many other fun items. I will have to make a post of all the goodies and the Laundry will have so much storage, must have a good Laundry! On that note, I am very proud of my design regarding the Laundry and the 'Deck Loo'. This is one for the boys, yes, when a BBQ is in action, you will not have to tramp through the house to go to the bathroom, the Loo is right there & the beers are right in the Laundry tub!!! how good is that Ladies.

P.S. I think you can enlarge the photos by double clicking on them.
