In come the Frames & Trusses

KATOOMBA COTTAGE UPDATE - ENJOY ;-)

'Kitome' is booked to deliver all the frames & trusses plus all that is needed for stage 1 including the floor kit for my lovely Cottage in Katoomba.

'Kitome' supplied Stage 1 being Frames & Trusses all in H2 Termite Treated blue coated timber from 'Western Frames & Trusses'. The Floor Kit being H2S Termite Treated LVL Bearers & Joists from 'Tilling www.tilling.com.au' and Stramit Guttering and Down Pipes plus other necessary items all arrived on an enormous truck that the driver said he was not able to reverse his vehicle into the driveway which was a real drag as everything would have to be off loaded into the driveway & all moved by hand. ;-(
I think  it good to note here that it is very important to make it super clear to everyone what the access is to the property, not being able to drive on site made it so much harder for the builder. Even though it was explained I thought clearly, my message did not seem to get across, we survived!

My Builder Nathan Kerr & Jason were none too pleased but that's the way it was to be & they just rolled up their sleeves & got straight into it. These guys are what I call 'Old School'. They don't complain just get on with it & boy did they work hard. The weather was all over the shop as well, sunny blue skies, then rain with large thunder clouds & cold bitter winds & just when it was looking ok again, it hailed, it actually hailed 3 times but the boys just kept on going moving piece by piece. They make the building game proud.
The site is littered with frames but there is of course a reason for this, Nathan has placed external and internal frames in order of how he needs them during the building process so as to not to have the frame he needs on the bottom of the pile and waste time & energy getting to things. Really glade he knows what he is doing.

All the timber is neatly stacked in order of use and all items are numbered and ready for the builder and easy to check off on the fat folder that arrived with the delivery called the 'Manifest list'. All items have to be checked off just in case something is missing or damaged. Nathan was right onto it, whizzing around making sure it was all there and ok to go.
Unfortunately there was a damaged down pipe but 'Kitome' are already onto it and will have it replaced ASAP. No big deal!

There was a fair bit of help from the locals keeping an eye on all the goings on, I'd say they are going to want to move in when the home is complete, well they are so cute. Just keep out of the sand pit!!!
This is a great product, Termite resistant particle board flooring 'TermiFlor' that comes with a 25 year guarantee against termite attack and can be exposed to the weather for a reasonable period of time without damage if there is not shelter on site however Nathan insists to keep it covered, elevated off the ground and protected with plastic as best we can till it is ready for use.

Yes, it just kept on hailing, after the second down pour of icy stones and another storm coming in that looked like a doozie, I left all the hard work for the lads, I bailed out & popped into the neighbours for that welcome offer of a warm cup of tea.
I O U guys ;-)
Looking down from the neighbour's balcony, it's hard to imagine that soon this will be a pretty garden again.
