Choosing doors is not that easy, in my humble opinion, they make the house a welcoming home so they have to be just right and what better doors to have but 10 Lite lass panel doors...............nobody mentioned how much work there is in prepping & painting such fiddly doors.
And a beautiful Lead light solid front door!
Had I of known just how much work was involved in 10 Lite doors, I may have chosen plan old flat doors but no, I had to go with my hearts desire and have beautiful French doors and I know they will look fabulous.
Hours sand them back then placing paper tape all around the glass sections and regular tape just does not fix to the frosted glass. Yes I have decided to go with the same French door for the bedrooms and bathroom, its a little odd but it will allow light to flow right through the home'. So with the frosted glass, the hot tip is to use the painters blue tape & don't get paint on the glass. Also make sure you keep the doors lying down, they can bow if you stand them up or lean them to the wall.
Here are a few photos of my pain & suffering................
The raw solid Maple timber doors
Make sure all your sanding dust has been vacuumed away otherwise the tape will not stick.
These high density roller brushes are great & disposable. They make a lovely finish
I used a 3 in one Tuabmans, Primer/Sealer/Undercoat Interior/Exterior paint.
The frosted glass doors with blue tape, staring to look good
Ok, while the paint brush is wet, why not fix up some chairs. I was given 2 lovely Art Deco cane lounge chairs that are in fair condition, just needing a good sand down with not too many repair points and a few coats of paint. Mind you I really don't have the time but I think they will look just great on the back Verandah.
Well start with the small one I say, 2 coats of undercoat and she is looking good. I will be making some seat pads & puffy cushions, that is when I can a chance ;-)
