As we all know the weather has taken is toll on builders & developers all over the East Coast, some have fallen into financial peril and others struggle on hoping for the summer to come and dry everything out.
Getting the roof finished was the blessing for my lovely home but now to make good the floor and secure its long future
First we washed the complete floor and the bottom of the timber frames with a very strong solution of bleach, this is to kill off any spore and germs that may be attaching themselves to the frame or floor.
After this all dried with the help of an industrial air blower given the pet name of the 'Pig', which has unfortunately gone missing, please bring him back!!! I hired an industrial floor sander to take off any impurities and make sure the floor was brought back to level again, hence the pile of dust. Joel spent the day zapping around with the big toy.
By the way cleaning up the dust took some super effort, it was everywhere.
Next........the fun bit.
After speaking to Laurie Waterson, my Private Certifier with my idea of using a 3 in 1 Primer/Sealer/Undercoat on the floor to make sure it would stand the distance of time; he was impressed and happy that I would spend the extra time & money to make the floor perfect again. Here are a few photos.
First I brushed around all the bottoms of the timber frames and up about 25cm, yes the whole house, if you don't like painting, prep work & cutting in, you will have to find someone else to do this job, its back breaking.
Then just a roller brush with a large tray and go for it but it did take 2 days to complete but looks sparkling & fresh. This won't last with dirty boots and lot's more work to come but for today I'm very pleased, it looks great & knowing I did the best I could to make it right.
You can also see that the boys have started on the External wall insulation and you may have spotted some wires hanging down. Tony has installed the wiring for the communications systems and TV. Unfortunately I miss good photos by not being on site every day.
You can see my little yellow air fan 'The Pig' very handy ;-(
